Postdoc position at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in chromatin/ centromere biology DR/121/19

Description:

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher position in the lab of Ann Ehrenhofer-Murray, starting Fall 2019, funded by the DFG. The successful candidate will conduct competitive research on epigenetic modifications of centromeric histone H3 in yeast (Anedchenko et al, Embo J 2019, Samel et al, PNAS 2012). The goal of the project is to characterize posttranslational modifications, to identify the modifying enzymes, and to study the consequences of the modifications using genetic and biochemical tools. The group employs molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry and genomics to study centromere function, chromatin and epigenetics in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The group is located at the Humboldt-University in central Berlin.

Qualifications:

Candidates should hold a PhD degree or equivalent and have experience in molecular biology and biochemistry. They should have at least one first author paper in an international peer-reviewed journal and an excellent command of written and spoken English. Knowledge in chromatin, epigenetics and epigenomics is a plus. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, creative and self-driven.

Salary is offered according to German employment rules (E13 TVL - HU, 100 %).

The contract is offered for three years, starting Fall 2019.
