Paid Masters project or part-time student job position on Red-light signaling in C. reinhardtii starting from November 2023 (flexible starting date)

 

Our research lab accepts applications from an academically outstanding and highly motivated bachelor student who has experience in genetic engineering and molecular biology techniques. Our project is about elucidating the mechanism behind red-light signaling in green algae Chlamydomonas reinhardtii using a forward genetic approach.

Experience in developmental biology and dry/wet lab skills are a plus.

The Cluster of Excellence “Neurocure” offers a fixed term position as Researcher / PostDoc. Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated to salary E 13 TV-L HU

Starting 01.01.2020, duration: 21 months

Research Area:

Molecular characterization and improvement of bimodal switchable Opto-GPCRs used for the activation of G-alpha signaling in central neurons.

The project will includer structure-based design, medium size screening methods, electrophysiology, biochemistry, spectroscopy and high-resolution imaging.

Qualification profile:

We aim at attracting the best talent in the respective research fields and look for:

• an outstanding university degree (master/diploma or equivalent) and Dr. or PhD degrees in biochemistry, chemistry, physics, biology, or related field of physical sciences

• Dr. or PhD degree from an excellent research group / University

• strong knowledge in biochemistry or biophysics

• an independent, target- and solution-driven work attitude

• multidisciplinary thinking,

• strong motivation and interest to join one of the most ambitious interdisciplinary research clusters,

• very good interpersonal and communication skills; in particular, the ability to effectively work in collaborative research efforts,

• fluency in English - written and oral.
