Using biophysical approaches to understand biological structures and systems has opened a new exciting way to understand fundamentals of life. Sensing and signal transduction on the single cell level to organism level are essential in order to understand the structure – function relationship. The corresponding realm of the nanoscale requires new methods that find a compromise between the needs of living organisms and already established tools. I think that this multidisciplinary approach is very promising in thinking outside the box resulting in new appealing concepts not seen yet.
