Archives at Späth-Arboretum of Humboldt-Universität
At the Späth-Arboretum of the Humboldt University there are several archival collections of historico-scientific interest:
- The card index of Gerd Krüssmann, who worked from 1935 to 1945 at Späth's tree nurseries as a dendrologist and was in charge of the arboretum, served as the basis for the compilaton of his multi-volume standard works "Handbuch der Laubgehölze" and "Handbuch der Nadelgehölze".
- The glass photo plate collection of the former Späth nursery, partly at the Späth Arboretum, served to illustrate numerous publications of the nursery.
- Numerous documents and photographs reflect the work of the Institute for Systematic Botany at Humboldt-Universität (since 1969 the Botany and Arboretum Department of the then founded Museum of Natural History at Humboldt-Universität, since 1991 the Institute for Systematik Botany and Arboretum) from 1960 to the 1990s.
- An extensive archive of slides contains pictures from scientific excursions and from the living collection, mostly from the period 1960-1990. The large stock of photographs of plants and travel pictures from Cuba, which documents the close cooperation between Humboldt-Universität and the Botanical Garden of Havana since the 1960s, deserves special mention.
Furthermore there are
- the registered office and the archive of the German Botanical Society (DBG) at the Späth-Arboretum of Humboldt-Universität.
