Enzymes in the degradation of aromatic compounds

Metal- and flavin-containing enzymes catalyze essential reactions in the bacterial degradation of aromatic compounds under aerobic and anaerobic conditions. We are investigating the mechanism of enzymes, which catalyze central reactions in the degradation of quinoline. We are interested in understanding how the enzymes recognize their substrates and how the activation of dioxygen is regulated and used for catalysis.
